– The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) under the leadership of Regional Director, PCSUPT Rolando Zambale Nana committed to support the Chief PNP’s commitment to step up its anti-criminality campaign. In a two-day simultaneous police operations on June 21-22, 2018, PROCOR operatives uprooted and burned on site 5M worth of fully grown marijuana plants, arrested 68 personalities charged for various offenses and seized 36 assorted firearms and explosives.
During the operations, 55 with warrants of arrest were apprehended, eight (8) others who were subject of seven (7) Search Warrants were arrested, while three (3) were caught in the act of engaging in illegal gambling related activities.
The searches also resulted in the confiscation and surrender of the following prohibited items: ten (10) assorted high and twenty-two (22) low powered firearms; 125 pieces of assorted ammunitions for firearms with different calibers; five (5) pieces magazines for assorted firearms, and four (4) MK fragmentation hand grenades.
In the campaign against wanted persons, 47 wanted persons were arrested of whom three are listed Ten Most Wanted Person (TMWP) for the 2nd quarter of 2018.
It is also worthy to note that four miners identified as Roel Velasco Valdez, 29, native of Cervantes, Ilocos sur and a resident of Itogon, Benguet; Jonathan Coliplip Natiguing, 45, native of Banaue, Ifugao and a resident of Kias, PMA, Baguio City; James Babawen Benaliw, 24, and Nickson Babawen Benaliw, 29, both natives of Tadian Mountain Province and residents of Mines View, Baguio City were arrested at the Rising sun Commercial Corporation Building Km.4, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet for robbery with intimidation committed inside said building.
Other commendable accomplishment is the arrest of Ceasar Binay-og Balawag, 19, Cordillera’s No. 3 TMWP who is charged for the crime of Carnapping in his residence at Purok 1, Barangay Dugpa, Pinukpuk, Kalinga in the early morning of June 22, 2018. Another TMWP municipal level identified as Felipe Altuna Vasquez a.k.a. Ipe, of legal age, native of Sitio San Antonio, Brgy Dumayco, Peñarrubia, Abra and listed as No. 1 TMWP in the municipality of Peñarrubia, Abra, charged for the crime of Rape was nabbed in the afternoon of the same day with no bail recommended and the No. 10 TMWP of Police Station 1, Baguio City Police Office who was charged for the crime of Theft identified as Nelson Viray Agballog, 35, fisherman was nabbed in his residence at Pugo Bawang, La Union in the night of same date.
On the operations against Illegal Drugs, a total of 19,450 fully grown Marijuana plants and 5 kilograms of marijuana stalks worth PhP 5,140,000.00 was destroyed during the Marijuana eradication campaign in Tinglayan, Kalinga on June 19, 2018. Moreover, 10 sachets containing suspected “Shabu” were confiscated during the operation.
On Anti-Illegal gambling operations, three (3) persons were caught in the act of playing card games, where 52 playing cards, and PhP430.00 bet money in different denominations were confiscated from their possession at Rhea’s Coffee Shop, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet.
On Anti-illegal logging activities, assorted types of lumber with a total volume of 5,420.47 board feet, and a total estimated value of Php190,250.425 was confiscated in the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao and Mountain Province. A total of 120 pieces of lumber in different board feet confiscated form different provinces in the Cordillera are yet to be measured and estimated of its total value.
Benguet recorded the most number of arrests which is 20, Baguio City Police Office contributed 13, Kalinga with 11, Abra has 10, Apayao and Mountain Province has 5 each and Ifugao with 4 arrest.
The initiated simultaneous operation is part of the OPLAN Lambat-Sibat of PROCOR where all-out police operations are conducted against illegal drug personalities, Most Wanted Persons, loose firearms and all other forms of criminality.
PCSupt Nana applauded his men for the success of the two-day operation. The result of which proves the untiring effort of our provincial directors and field commanders in leading their troops to efficiently perform the mandated tasks of the PNP. He assured that Team PROCOR will continue to perform this operation to address all forms of criminality in the region.
He solicited the continuous collective efforts of the local government units and the public to work together in support of the programs of the PNP especially in giving timely information that greatly contributes to crime prevention.
