Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet: In consonance with the celebration of Bonifacio Day, the Police Regional Office Cordillera together with its partners in the Local Government Units (LGU) and in the civilian and youth sector, participated in the Symbolic Candle Lighting Rally on November 30.
The different municipal police stations of PROCOR partnered with their respective LGUs, non-government organizations, and youth members of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) in simultaneous candle lighting rallies staged throughout the region during the Bonifacio Day. Some of the highlighted themes during the activity were supporting the government’s peaceful advocacy rather than joining the armed group that hinders our nation’s progress, denouncing violence and atrocities perpetrated by the NPA, condemning youth recruitment into the armed terror group, and instilling love of country to the youth.
The peace-loving people and youth of Cordillera has boldly participated in the said activity as a show of support to the government’s campaign to end local communist armed conflict.
The celebration of the 157th birth anniversary of the hailed Father of the Philippine Revolution reminds us of true patriotism as characterized more than a century ago by one of our national heroes, Andres Bonifacio. This value holds more importance today especially here in the Cordilleras where the communist armed group has been committing countless atrocities under the guise of patriotism.
With the whole-of-nation approach by the government to address the causes of insurgency, the Police Regional Office Cordillera commits with its partners in the civilian and youth sector and in other government agencies to achieve the peace and development goals in the region. (PROCOR RPIO)
