CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – In observance of the Lenten Season, Police Regional Office Cordillera launched the “Cordillera Semana Santa Lights Display” at Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet on March 26, 2021.

Under the leadership and guidance of the Regional Director, PBGEN R’WIN S PAGKALINAWAN, PROCOR has put up various lights display around the camp featuring the period of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter in the Christian calendar.

With this initiative, PROCOR’s “Cordillera Semana Santa Lights Display” offers a good opportunity for reflection to its personnel and those who will visit to observe the solemnity of the Season of Lent.

Among those featured are the giant lighted Capiz Rosary, wood carvings of the 14 Stations of the Cross, the three Crosses of Calvary, and lighted replicas of seven Philippine churches.

The giant lighted Capiz Rosary was created in Roxas City, Capiz by Cora Balgos-Tiangco, proprietress of Kapis Atbp Shellcraft. They also made the capiz stars used in PROCOR’s Christmas Lights Display and the capiz hearts for the Valentine’s Lights Display. The wood carvings, on the other hand, were masterfully crafted by Police Executive Master Sergeant John Dango of PNP Cordillera’s Regional Headquarters Support Group.

Also, as part of a virtual Visita Iglesia or the Holy Week practice of visiting and praying in at least seven churches, 7 prominent Philippine churches are displayed in lighted replicas in the parade grounds. These are: The Sta Monica Parish Church in Panay, Capiz; the San Pedro Cathedral in Davao City; the Minor Basilica and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Manila; Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral in Baguio City; the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu; San Agustin Church of Paoay, Ilocos Norte; and, the Santo Tomàs de Villanueva Parish Church in Miagao, Iloilo.

The “Cordillera Semana Santa Lights Display” is livestreamed every night from 6pm to 9pm until Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 through PROCOR’s Facebook Page, “PNP Cordillera FB Page.”
